110 kv underground power cable installation will impact traffic on roads leading to Naantali port

The cable installation will take place along the road sections: Satamatie – Järveläntie – Viljatie – Viestitie.

Naantalin Energia Oy will significantly strengthen the local electricity distribution network by installing new 110 kV underground power cables between Saharanta – Naantalinsalmi and Saharanta – Sokeriranta. The cable installation will take place along the road sections:
Satamatie – Järveläntie – Viljatie – Viestitie.

Some cable routes will cross driving lanes and bicycle paths (Satamatie and Viljatie) and will also extend into road embankments (Satamatie, Järveläntie, Viljatie, and Viestitie).

The project includes drilling under roads and railways, along with short-term excavation work at road junctions. During junction excavations, every effort will be made to maintain access to properties through traffic arrangements and signage.

Construction will proceed in phases, with an estimated timeline of February 24 to July 31, 2025. Excavation and cable installation, including construction machinery operating in road areas, will cause temporary disruptions to both traffic and pedestrians.

The greatest impact will be on Satamatie, where one lane will be closed approximately from February 24 to March 21, 2025.

For safety reasons, the initial section of Satamatie will remain completely closed to all traffic and pedestrians from February 24 to March 31, 2025. During this period, all access to the port will be redirected via Viestitie and Järveläntie.

During cable installations, temporary speed limits, traffic control, and signage will be in place in all affected areas. As the installation progresses, temporary traffic arrangements will be removed accordingly. Additional short-term and temporary traffic control measures may be implemented later if required for work and safety.

The 110 kV underground power cable installation is commissioned by Naantalin Energia Oy, with Sähkö-Wire Oy as the main contractor.
