A total of nearly 5.66 million tonnes of cargo was transported through the Port of Naantali’s quays and/or fairways and water areas maintained by it (incl. transports to and from the Neste oil refinery) from January–September 2019. The volume was down by 2.11%, or 122,000 tonnes compared to the same period in the previous year.

The share of the Naantali inner harbour Kantasatama and Luonnonmaa port site of the total transports (loaded + unloaded) was around 39%, or nearly 2.19 million tonnes (+3.57%), of which the share of international transports was 95%.

Located in the Naantali port area, transports through the Neste oil terminal quays accounted for 61% of the total transport volume and stood at nearly 3.74 million tonnes (-5.39%), of which the share of international transports was 62%.

The share of international transports was around 74% of the total transport volume in the Naantali port area, totalling nearly 4.21 million tonnes. Import shipments stood at around 2.96 million tonnes (-2.78%) and exports at nearly 1.25 million tonnes (+6.31%). The share of domestic transports (including Åland islands and coastal traffic via Naantali) was 26%, or nearly 1.45 million tonnes. Incoming domestic transports totalled around 0.46 million tonnes (+19.66%) in the Naantali port area, and outgoing domestic shipments totalled nearly 0.99 million tonnes (-15.88%).

A total of nearly 3.54 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (crude oil, oil products, lubrication oil, vinasse, molasses etc.) was transported through the Port of Naantali’s quays and/or fairways and water areas maintained by it from January–September 2019 (-5.41%). Around 98% of that volume was transports to and from the Naantali oil refinery.

The volume of dry bulk cargo (grain, coal, wood chips, salt, cement, animal feed and other agribulk products, as well as materials for recycling, such as crushed glass and metals etc.) transported via the Port of Naantali during the same period totalled nearly 0.59 million tonnes (+21.68%).

Ro-ro/Ro-pax vessels carried a total of 111,339 units (trucks and trailers) via Naantali (incl. 6.783 empty units), and those units included 1.53 million tonnes of cargo (-1.56%).

A total of 94,964 drivers of cargo units and 65,726 leisure passengers travelling with a vehicle were carried by ferry from January–September 2019.

The number of vessel calls in the Naantali port area from January–September 2019 totalled 1,146, down by 4% or 53 vessel calls compared to the same period in the previous year. At the same time, however, the total net tonnage of the vessels was over 8.93 million NT, an increase of 7% and nearly 0.59 million NT. So the net tonnage of the vessels calling in the port was on average higher than a year before.

The number of vessel calls in Kantasatama and Luonnonmaa port site during the same period totalled 920, down by 4% and 42 vessel calls compared to the same period in the previous year. The total net tonnage of the vessels, however, stood at nearly 7.60 million NT (+10%), or up by over 0.67 million NT on the previous year.

The vessel calls in the oil refinery quays totalled 232 during the same period, down by around 3% or 8 vessel calls on the previous year. The total net tonnage of the vessels calling in the oil refinery quays was around 1.35 million NT, down by 6% or over 0.08 million NT on the previous year. The vessel calls in the oil refinery accounted for around 20% of the total number of vessel calls in the Naantali port area and around 15% of the total net tonnage of the vessels.
