Blasting works will begin on Thursday, 20 August, in Raisio town centre along the E18 Turku Ring Road, causing occasional traffic stoppages and congestion.
As part of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s E18 Raisio Town Centre project, a temporary road serving the future tunnel construction site is currently being built. The blasting operations will take place on the worksite west of the Turku Ring Road (Nesteentie), between Soliniuksenkuja and Juhaninkuja.
The work will start with rock drilling on Thursday, 20 August, and blasting operations will commence on Monday, 24 August.
For safety reasons, traffic on the Ring Road will be temporarily stopped during blasting. The stoppages will be announced with audible warning signals, and traffic controllers on site will manage the closures. Each individual traffic stop will last no more than eight minutes.
The excavation and blasting works may cause occasional noise disturbance. The impact of the work on nearby properties will be monitored through vibration measurements.
Work will be carried out on weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and blasting operations requiring traffic stoppages will be scheduled, whenever possible, outside the morning and afternoon peak traffic periods.
The excavation works are expected to be completed during September.
