The first of Finnlines\u2019 Superstar class vessels, Finnsirius<\/strong> is starting regular liner service between Finland, the \u00c5land islands and Sweden on the Naantali\u2013L\u00e5ngn\u00e4s\u2013Kapellsk\u00e4r route in September. The second Superstar ship, named Finncanopus<\/strong>, is expected to be delivered by the end of 2023.<\/p>\n

Passenger capacity doubles and cargo capacity rises to 5,200 lane metres<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cruise season in Naantali will start in larger scale in September when the new hybrid vessel Finnsirius starts liner service on the Naantali\u2013L\u00e5ngn\u00e4s\u2013Kapellsk\u00e4r route.<\/p>\n

The Superstar class vessel to be launched on the Naantali route has a passenger capacity of 1,100<\/strong> people which is about two-fold compared to the Star class vessels currently sailing on the route. At present, the route is operated by Finnswan and Europalink. With the new vessel, the cargo capacity<\/strong> will also increase from the current around 4,000 lane metres to 5,200 lane metres.<\/p>\n

A number of construction and repair projects for improving the infrastructure and especially the customer experience have been implemented in the Port of Naantali during this year. Due to the introduction of new ships, the Port has made new traffic arrangements as well as installing outdoor lighting, and building fences and gates. There is a new paid parking area outside the terminal where passengers can leave their car during the cruise.<\/p>\n

Finnsirius takes maiden voyage on 15 September 2023 from the Port of Naantali<\/strong><\/p>\n

Finnsirius is departing on its maiden voyage from Naantali via L\u00e5ngn\u00e4s in the \u00c5land islands to Kapellsk\u00e4r, Sweden on 15 September 2023. Finnlines has opened the ticket sales for Finnsirius including new passengers and cargo services. The short sea voyage only lasts for 8\u20139 hours.<\/p>\n

With the introduction of the news ship, Finnlines has also planned an attractive service package for passengers travelling on foot.<\/p>\n

Dining on board has received new flavours, including menus planned in co-operation with top chef Henri Al\u00e9n. There are 7 different bars and restaurants on board the ship.<\/p>\n

The selection of cabins has expanded, ranging from basic cabins to cabins for 6 persons and suites, and there is also a yoga room and gym for fitness enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

Automated mooring and unmooring system introduced in Naantali<\/strong><\/p>\n

An automooring system enabling automated mooring and unmooring<\/strong> for Superstar class vessels has been completed in the Port, and it was also introduced for Star class vessels in the spring. The new system speeds up the mooring and unmooring of ships, increases cost-efficiency of port operations, and improves safety.<\/p>\n

Shore-side electricity used by Finnsiriuus cuts emissions and reduces noise in the port area<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new vessels will take up the shore-side electricity system. While berthed in Naantali, the ships can used shore-side electricity which cuts emissions and reduces noise in the port area, because the vessels need not keep the auxiliary engines running when at quay.<\/p>\n
